Nainbag (Tehri) — Administrative officers heard villagers’ issues during a field visit to Sānji village in Jaunpur block. ADM Shailendra Singh Negi directed the relevant departments to expedite resolution of the problems highlighted by residents. The community described Sānji as gaining recognition as a maize village, with about 70 families engaged in maize cultivation. They emphasized the need to asphalt the link road connecting the village, improve drainage to remove waterlogging during the monsoon, and construct a water park to accommodate growing tourist footfall. They also sought compensation for land displaced by road cutting and timely compensation for those affected by the Lakhāwād dam project.
The village’s economic activities and proposed infrastructure upgrades illustrate a broader push to diversify livelihoods beyond maize farming, while balancing environmental and social impacts with nearby development projects.
