Under the Ninth National Nutrition Month, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Tehri Garhwal organized a one-day nutrition education and awareness program in Badeda village. The event drew participation from a total of 48 individuals, including women, children, and adolescents.

During the program, Dr. Kirti Kumari spoke on the role of nutrition in nation building and the development of a healthy citizenry. She highlighted that well-nourished people form the foundation of a strong nation and that malnutrition affects physical and mental development, education, and work capacity.

Participants were advised to limit junk food, fried and packaged items, and sugary beverages. Vandana Kumari provided information on cleanliness and health, stressing personal and household hygiene, proper handwashing, clean drinking water, and safe food.

Vandana Kumari described the critical first 1000 days—from pregnancy to a child’s early years—as essential for physical, mental, and cognitive development. The program included conversations with attendees about their daily eating patterns and nutrition habits, and practical ways to make family meals more nutritious using local food resources. Women and girls were encouraged to prioritize their health and nutrition and to instill healthy eating habits in children.
