The dispute escalated during police questioning, with both sides reportedly arguing and coming to blows. Police calmed them, reprimanded both parties and warned of action if the matter was not resolved mutually.

An Energy Corporation inspection team detected suspected power theft at around 30 homes in Purampur village on Monday. The operation, led by an executive engineer, also found consumers continuing to use electricity illegally after their connections had been disconnected over unpaid bills. Officials recorded the cases on video during the campaign.

Police raided an alleged illicit liquor-making setup in the forest near Badshahpur village on Thursday night after receiving information from an informer. The people operating the furnace escaped through nearby sugarcane fields, while officers seized 5 litres of raw liquor and equipment and destroyed about 200 litres of lahan prepared for fermentation.

Police arrested a man during a checking operation on the Laksar-Balawali road on Monday night, officials said. Officers reported recovering 15.82 grams of smack from him and registered a case under the NDPS Act. The accused was being presented before a court as the legal process moved forward.

Former Roorkee Municipal Corporation property tax officer Mohammad Qayyum has been suspended after allegations that taxpayers were issued fake receipts for house tax and other dues. Vinay Vishal Health Care Private Limited has now complained to the municipal commissioner, alleging that it was also affected in the matter involving ₹5.87 lakh.

The group was returning to Saharanpur after a Ganga bath in Haridwar. Police took 2 injured women to a private hospital, while the driver and other passengers remained safe.

Gangnahar police have arrested a young tenant accused of snatching a gold chain from elderly resident Anita Gupta in Roorkee’s Hanuman Colony. Police said the chain and pendant were recovered from his room after the complaint, and the accused was sent to jail in connection with the case.
