In Bageshwar district, heavy and intermittent rain persisted through the morning, contributing to rising water levels in the Sarayu and Gomati rivers. Officials from disaster management and the public works department report multiple road sections damaged by rain-induced landslides and rockfalls, leading to closures across 8 rural motor routes.
A stretch on the Daina Lakhni-Lohaari Silli-Band Kanyaaria route at kilometer 5 has been ravaged by rising streams in a local ghat, rendering the road unusable. To restore traffic, the Public Works Department is preparing a plan to install a temporary wire-crate based vented culvert bridge at the site.
On the Paldiichhina-Jainkras route, kilometer 6 suffered a complete washout during the downpour, with traffic halted and a reopening target set for 10 September.
Meanwhile, the Kapkot-Pindari Glacier-Kafliekmida corridor at kilometers one, 2, 4 and 5 faces blockages from rockfall and debris, including a roughly 700-meter dangerous sliding zone at kilometer one where vehicle movement is deemed unsafe during monsoon.
The Badiyakot-Borbalda route at kilometer 3 is also closed due to washout. Additional restrictions are in place on Gandhi Gram-Amotora and Bagahar routes under PMGSY, where multiple locations report debris and rockfalls obstructing passage.
