In Bhagaon village of Chamoli district, the Government Junior High School did not run classes on Teacher’s Day because both teachers did not report for duty, leaving the school locked. Students and parents waited for teachers to arrive, but the school remained shut. While Teacher’s Day programs were planned nationwide, this school did not host any activities or classes. The absence of teachers has sparked anger among villagers and parents, who say irregular attendance directly affects students’ learning, especially in remote hill areas.
Parents including Lazhu Devi, Roshni Devi, Guddi Devi, Pushpa Devi, Suman Devi, Rita Devi and Anjana Devi questioned the school’s arrangements and expressed concern for their children’s education and future. They argued that inconsistent teacher attendance is hindering the coverage of the syllabus and creating confusion among students in Class VI.
