A Bailey bridge was installed in Kulagad Nala on the Tanakpur–Tawaghhat highway, restoring full vehicular movement after a 16‑day disruption. The Border Roads Organisation completed the 170‑foot bridge in 5 days, enabling traffic across the highway that connects the China frontier with the Adi Kailash, Manasarovar and Darma, Vyas, Chaudas valleys. After a landslide caused by heavy rainfall on 18 August, the earlier Bailey bridge was destroyed, severing contact with the 3 valleys for 2 days while an alternative route was opened for small vehicles. The new bridge construction began last Sunday, and by Friday traffic was resumed on the structure. A dedicated AE and 6 JEs, along with 35 workers, carried out day‑and‑night work to finish the bridge. The bridge was inaugurated by the chief engineer of the Hirak project, who praised the team’s efforts. Officials confirmed that the bridge has been inspected on site and opened for all vehicles. This development brings relief to residents of the 3 valleys and to security forces operating in the border region.
