Chamoli
Repeated bear sightings around Bamiyala, Kafoli and Nolapani in Chamoli’s Narayanbagar block have raised safety concerns among residents. Villagers say women’s daily work and children’s security are being affected, while crops have also been damaged. After a delegation submitted a memorandum, forest officials sent a team and provided firecrackers to help drive the animals away.
Pithoragarh
Residents of Bisabajed in Pithoragarh’s Munkot block say a leopard has attacked several goats in recent days. Fear has spread among villagers who collect fodder and take livestock towards forest areas. They have asked the Forest Department to address the threat and help restore safety in the area.
Kotdwar
An elephant herd damaged 3 residential buildings, a solar streetlight and 2 mango trees at Haldoon Tok in Jaurasi Talli village, Kotdwar. Villagers have sought compensation, stronger forest patrols and faster construction of barriers and solar fencing after the incident created fear in the area.
Pauri
Monkey attacks in Devprayag have injured 2 women travellers and a child over the past 2–3 days, according to local accounts. The incidents occurred near the Bhagirathi bridge, the confluence and the bathing platform, prompting residents to fear for children travelling to school. A forest team is being called to capture the monkeys.
Pithoragarh
A 75-year-old resident was seriously hurt when a monkey attacked him in the courtyard of his home in Kulyalgaon, a remote area of Champawat’s Pati block. Residents say repeated monkey attacks have created fear among children, women and older people, and have urged the district administration and Forest Department to act.
Almora
A tiger was seen about 200 metres from Heeraram’s home in Saural village, Almora, on Tuesday morning. Unable to call for help, he ran towards a neighbour after the animal appeared to approach him. Forest officials later inspected the area and advised residents to travel in groups and remain vigilant.
Pauri
A bear attacked 54-year-old Kuldeep Singh while he was returning from work near Kanda village in Pauri Garhwal. Singh suffered serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Hans Hospital in Satpuli. The Forest Department has provided ₹30,000 in immediate assistance and said another ₹70,000 will follow.
Haridwar
In Laladurg area near a petrol pump, a leopard dragged a grazing goat into sugarcane fields and killed it. Forest officials rushed to the scene, recovered remains, and advised vigilance, especially during evening hours, as patrols intensify in Molhapuri and surrounding areas.
Almora
A leopard appeared in the Dugalkhola area of Almora city during daytime, attempting to pounce on a woman. The incident sparked fear in nearby residential blocks as locals call on forest authorities to install a cage to prevent future encounters and ensure safety.
Uttarkashi
A leopard was spotted beside the Dharasu Band road in Uttarkashi late on September 4, with pedestrians recording a video from a safe distance. The incident follows recent leopard attacks in nearby areas, intensifying resident concerns and calls for stronger monitoring by forest authorities.
