A leopard was spotted in the Dugalkhola area of Almora city during daylight, triggering panic among residents. The felid attempted to pounce on a woman, but fled into nearby shrubs when alerted by the gathered people. Subsequently, the animal appeared to move along towards residential zones as fear spread.
Local residents promptly reported the sighting to forest officials and police. A response team reached the area and located the leopard hiding in the shrubs. The animal escaped again when noise was made, and several bystanders captured it on video.
The recurring presence of leopards in and around the city has raised concerns among residents, who note prior CCTV sightings in the area. The daytime sighting and attempted attack have intensified worries about the safety of children and women in the neighborhood. Neighbors are urging forest authorities to install a cage to trap or deter the animal and prevent future incidents.
