Uttarkashi district is upgrading 14 locations on the Gangotri and Yamunotri pilgrroutes with view points, selfie points and wayfinding pillars. The initiative is intended to give pilgrims better places to rest while adding tourism-focused facilities along the Char Dham journey.
The project covers locations in the Bhatwari, Naugaon, Purola and Mori development blocks. Work is being carried out through the Minor Irrigation Department at an estimated cost of about 31.32 lakh rupees.

The planned facilities extend across both pilgrcorridors and nearby travel routes. The identified locations include:

District Magistrate Prashant Arya is overseeing the initiative. The Minor Irrigation Department selected the sites for development under the plan.
10 of 14 works completed
Mad an Mohan Sharma, executive engineer with the Minor Irrigation Department, said 10 of the 14 construction works have been completed. The remaining activities include work at several locations across the travel routes.
A selfie point is being developed at Hina Parking. A wayfinding pillar is under construction at Dabrani. Purola is receiving a view point and selfie point, while work in Mori includes restoration of the travel route and a selfie point.
The project is therefore combining visitor amenities with route-related improvements. Pilgrims travelling towards Gangotri and Yamunotri will have access to designated places for breaks and scenic viewing as the remaining work progresses.
