While such services offer affordable travel for the public, they are seen as bypassing regulated transport systems and reducing government revenue. Department teams are conducting routine checks and, increasingly, surprise inspections on select routes such as Kaudia area, Taloo Rateeli Chowk to Jhanda Chowk, and the Railway Station belt. In efforts to curb the practice, drivers of a public transport depot have previously confronted private vehicles attempting to board passengers outside the depot, resulting in confrontations. A notable incident 3 days ago involved roadways staff ejecting passengers from a car before it departed. Following these events, the transport department expanded its monitoring to corridors including Kaudia, Railway Road, and Badri Narayan Marg, where irregular pick-ups have been observed. The objective is to deter non-registered commercial operations and ensure adherence to formal transport channels, with field teams conducting on-road checks during patrols.
