Employees at Uttarakhand Roadways’ Pithoragarh depot have reportedly gone without salary for 3 months, while shortages of tyres and spare parts have left several buses in the workshop. Services to Haridwar, Dehradun and key rural routes, including Dharamghar and Pangla, are also affected, causing inconvenience for passengers.
Kotdwar
The transport department has intensified scrutiny of private cars used commercially, citing revenue loss and safety concerns. Agencies are conducting regular and surprise checks across key routes to curb unauthorised commercial activity by private vehicles.
Haridwar
Ageing buses in the Haridwar depot fleet are reportedly developing repeated technical faults on long-distance services to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Several vehicles have broken down en route, leaving passengers stranded during journeys, while limited fleet strength is keeping the remaining buses in frequent long-route operation.
