RAMNAGAR: Disorder at the construction site of Ramनगर’s high-tech busport is creating difficulties for bus drivers and passengers, with damaged routes affecting vehicle movement and parking.

The busport project began in 2021 and is planned to include a high-tech workshop, shopping complex, parking facilities and toilets. It is being built at an estimated cost of about ₹50 crore.

Construction delays affect traffic

The construction has not been progressing in a properly sequenced manner, according to the report. Routes around the site have deteriorated during the work, making it harder for buses to enter, move through and park at the facility.

There is currently insufficient space to park buses. The resulting disruption is affecting the traffic arrangements used by buses and adding to inconvenience for passengers and drivers.

The project had remained pending for a long period after its budget was reduced. The government has made almost the full payment for busport construction this year. However, the impact of the work is still visible because separate components have not been completed in an organised sequence.

Officials asked to complete work in phases

Social worker Narendra Sharma said officials from the executing agency were not regularly present at the site. He said the lack of routine supervision was affecting the organisation of the construction work.

Roadways Assistant Regional Manager Naveen Arya said the executing agency had been asked to carry out the work in sequence. The request is intended to reduce the disruption caused by simultaneous or poorly coordinated construction activity.

Ramनगर MLA Diwan Singh Bisht has also directed the concerned executing agency to complete the work in phases. He said he would soon inspect the busport and hold a meeting on the project.

Conclusion

The unfinished busport is currently affecting bus movement, parking and passenger convenience in Ramनगर. The next stated steps are phased construction, a site inspection by MLA Diwan Singh Bisht and a meeting on the project.
