Facing a rise in swine flu-like illnesses, Udham Singh Nagar health authorities are widening access to treatment beyond the district hospital. All CHCs and PHCs will now offer swine flu care, with essential medicines and masks supplied to empower frontline centers. The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. S.K. Goswami, noted that seasonal changes may boost viral cases and symptom presentation, prompting this expanded readiness. An isolation ward with 10 beds has been reserved at the district hospital to manage potential severe cases.
To support expanded testing and treatment, sample collection and Tamiflu (oseltamivir) availability is being ensured at CHCs and PHCs. The department has prepped teams to manage a possible uptick in patients and to provide every feasible treatment option.
Residents are advised to seek care promptly if they develop fever, cough, sore throat, or breathing difficulties, and to visit the nearest health facility. In crowded areas, mask usage and hand hygiene are strongly encouraged. Health workers, including ASHAs and ANMs, have been instructed to conduct door-to-door monitoring and to motivate individuals to get tested when symptoms arise.
