Kotdwar witnessed a series of award ceremonies on Teachers’ Day as institutions in the town recognized educators for exemplary service. The program at the Municipal Auditorium, organized by the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Upliftment Committee, opened with remarks from a local MP, who stressed the importance of educating children for a centuries-ahead outlook. Distinguished teachers, including DS Negi, Darshan Singh Rawat, and Trilok Chand Soni, were among those honored. In the same event, MKVN Education Group and PM Shri GGIc Kotdwara were named best school.
In Nimbuchowdar, a separate function organized by former minister Surendra Singh Negi honored 154 teachers. Another ceremony by a social organization marked the appreciation of 205 teachers. At each program, organizers acknowledged the efforts of teachers with certificates and shawls, and invited dignitaries to light lamps to inaugurate the proceedings. The event also recognized recipients of national and state honors, including a recipient of the President’s Award, including Daualt Singh Gusai, along with other state and additional awards.
The Rotary Club hosted a tribute at Government Girls Inter College, presenting certificates and shawls to principal Babita Dhyan, and other faculty members such as Seema Rawat, Madhu Joshi, Neelam Negi, Dr. KS Negi, Veena Rawat, and Pratibha Gupta. In Ratampur, the Gapes organization awarded the Sharda Mahaan samman to former teacher Dhiraaj Singh Rawat.
The series of ceremonies demonstrated broad engagement across Kotdwar in celebrating teachers who contribute to student development, with multiple organizations participating and a shared emphasis on teachers as role models for the new generation.
