Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit carried out surprise inspections at Government Primary School No. 3 in Jwalapur and Government Primary School No. 18 in Kankhal on Tuesday, reviewing the areas most directly connected to students’ daily experience: teaching, mid-day meals and cleanliness.
The inspection also covered classrooms, toilets, drinking water facilities and student attendance. Dixit interacted with children in their classrooms and sought information about their studies and the quality of the food served at school.
Attendance and teacher presence
At one of the schools, 334 students were enrolled, with 204 present during the inspection. The school had 12 teachers working there, while one teacher had been absent since 04 February 2025.
The administration also focused on the role of families in children’s education. Schools were directed to hold meetings with parents from time to time so that they can participate more actively in monitoring attendance, learning progress and education-related needs.
Focus on meals and basic facilities
The inspection placed particular emphasis on the quality of mid-day meals. Any lapse or negligence in food quality was described as unacceptable, and schools were directed to include green vegetables in children’s meals.
Repairs planned through CSR
Identified shortcomings are to be addressed on priority. A plan is to be prepared through corporate social responsibility funding for repairs to old school buildings.
Conclusion
The Haridwar inspections have set out a combined focus on classroom learning, teacher presence, student attendance, nutritious meals, sanitation, parent participation and school-building repairs.
