A new drive aimed at conserving bugyals, boosting environmental awareness, and ensuring proper disposal of organic waste has begun in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. The Chandik Bhatt Environmental and Development Center, Shopna, Gorakpur—organisers of the Bugyal Save Campaign—launched the initiative this weekend with a seminar at PM Shri Raika Pada.
The campaign’s steering includes Om Prakash Bhatt, a trustee at the center, and senior journalist VYomesh Chandra Jugran. They joined students, teachers, and other participants from local schools in a session that emphasized bugyal protection and environmental responsibility. Principals and teachers from the host school were present alongside students. After the session, similar outreach meetings were held in Nyalsu Rampur and Triyuginarayan villages to further environmental awareness among residents.
Participants in the campaign include students, teachers, journalists, social workers, and local forest department officers. The objective is to safeguard bugyals while fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among local communities. The campaign will conclude near Gangvana village in Ghat near Dansali tehsil, Tehri district, with townhall-style discussions and local engagements about bugyal conservation needs.
