Bajpur police have arrested Mahboob Malik in connection with the alleged theft of a car battery and recovered the stolen item, officials said.
The incident occurred on 2 October, when a car parked outside a house in Ward 3, Rambhavan, was allegedly broken into. The vehicle’s window was damaged and its battery was taken.
A complaint was filed with police on 4 October by Azam, who said the car belonged to his friend. Police then registered a case against an unidentified person and began investigating.
Arrest and recovery
A team led by Sub-Inspector Prahlad Bisht acted on information from an informer and detained Malik near Maheshpura Doraha on Sunday night. Police identified him as Mahboob Malik, son of Sardar Ahmad, a resident of Narpat Nagar, Dundawala, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
The stolen battery was recovered during a search, police said. The investigation and legal proceedings are continuing.
