Nainital
Former Nainital MLA and senior Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader Dr Narayan Singh Jantwal died in Delhi while receiving treatment after being unwell for some time. A statehood activist and former party central president, he represented Nainital in the 2002 Assembly election and raised regional development and public-interest concerns.
Almora
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal has criticised the use of a water cannon against its workers during the Assembly session in Gairsain. At a Wednesday press conference in Almora, party leader Kashi Singh Airy said the protesters were seeking to submit a memorandum on permanent capital status, jobs, domicile rights and stronger land laws.

Police stopped members of the Congress, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal and the Gram Pradhan organisation as they travelled towards Gairsain during the Assembly session. Congress workers exchanged heated words with officers in Chaukutia, while village heads were briefly detained. Police deployment and road restrictions also disrupted movement for passengers and local residents.

Police used water cannons at Junglechatti to stop UKD workers marching in support of Gairsain becoming Uttarakhand’s permanent capital. Separately, Congress members demonstrated outside the Vidhan Sabha at Bhararisain, raising concerns over corruption, unemployment, inflation, women’s safety and healthcare.
Chamoli
Leaders and workers of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal protested at Bhararisain, also known as Gairsain, in Chamoli as the Uttarakhand Assembly session began. The regional party said its demonstration was directed at state government policies, rising unemployment and other issues affecting the state.

Police stopped Uttarakhand Kranti Dal members at Simli Bend, about 41 km before Gairsain, as they marched towards the Assembly in Bhararisain ahead of the Vidhan Sabha session. The party is seeking permanent-capital status for Gairsain-Bhararisain, justice in the Ankita Bhandari case and action on other issues.

The Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly is set to convene on October 27, with Congress and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leaders announcing plans to gherao the Assembly in protest against the state government. Authorities have tightened security around the premises ahead of the session, while a supplementary budget is expected to be presented.
Pauri
Residents of Gairgarh village in Uttarakhand’s Chaubattakhal assembly constituency are using their own resources and voluntary labour to reopen a district panchayat road that has remained closed for decades. UKD leader Balwant Gusain joined the effort and warned that villagers could launch a protest if the road is not repaired soon.
Nainital
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal’s Uttarakhand Utthan Yatra will begin from Haldwani on Sunday and travel through several Kumaon areas before concluding in Haldwani on October 17. The party says it will gather public suggestions on regional concerns and state interests for inclusion in its manifesto.

The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal’s Almora unit said congestion is disrupting movement and essential supplies across the hill districts.
Khatima
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal intensified preparations for the Khatima Assembly election with a membership drive in Jhanakaiya on Saturday. Several members of the Bengali community joined the party during the campaign. Candidate Rohit Bhatt said UKD would focus on public concerns involving water, forests, land, food, clothing and housing.
Bageshwar
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal has announced a September 27 protest over deteriorating roads and alleged corruption in construction work across Bageshwar district. Party leaders say poor connectivity is forcing villagers to carry patients and pregnant women to hospitals on stretchers, while roads in the Pindar Valley remain a concern despite its tourism importance.

In a pre-Teacher’s Day dialogue, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leaders highlighted education system challenges, migration for study, land deals, and old pension restoration, urging concrete policies after the state’s formation left several regions grappling with flight of students, trade and jobs.
