Work to create a temporary culvert on the Suryadhar Road has started as part of repairs following the July flooding near Silaa Chowki. The Amargar Khalé flood earlier this year prompted authorities to set up a temporary structure to maintain connectivity; the latest step involves laying a Hum pipe to form the new temporary crossing in the Gadoul panchayat area. The Khalé, which feeds into the Jhakhhan River, has seen heavy discharge for about 2 years, with the downstream area suffering from high water levels and debris.
The prior temporary crossing was destroyed by the July flood, which left villages like Sila Chowki, Kandoli, Khark, and Sebuwala cut off from the main Bhogpur-Nakarpur route. The Irrigation Department attempted to divert water using 3 JCBs, but the rapid current overwhelmed the arrangements. After discussions with the district magistrate and other officials, the PWD (R&B) unit decided to install a Hum pipe-based temporary culvert as an immediate solution. It is expected to be completed in a few days, after which a permanent bridge will be constructed at a later stage.
Local MLA Brijbhushan Gairola from Doiwala provided the update on the ground, noting the urgency of restoring access for affected village clusters and commuters.
