The movement for a Tehri Medical College has intensified, with demonstrators marching from Bauraadi’s Ganesh Chowk toward the DM Office and across New Tehri. The protest follows a period of sit-ins and ongoing fasting-style demonstrations in Bauraadi, centered on securing a medical college for Tehri Garhwal. The demonstrations are led by Dr. RB Godiyal and involve a broad coalition of supporters including Kuldeep Punwar, Lakhvir Chauhan, Devendra Naodiyal, Ganga Bhagat Singh Negi, Bhup Singh Rawat, Manoj, Asha Rawat, Dr. US Negi, Shivraj Punwar, Rahul Butola and CP Dubaral, among others.
The organizers insist that Tehri residents should not be left with “cheats” or vague timelines regarding the medical college project, and they seek a prompt government action to finalize a formal start.
