A no-cost cataract screening camp was conducted in Mansuna village, Rudraprayag, following directives from the district magistrate, Vishal Mishra. The National Health Mission organized the camp, with medical teams examining 17 eyes from 17 residents, 8 men and 9 women. 4 villagers were diagnosed with cataracts and will undergo free operations at Vivekananda Netralaya in Dehradun. The team from Vivekananda Netralaya will transport the 4 patients to Dehradun for the surgery on the coming Sunday.
The medical staff included ophthalmologist Saurabh Bartwal, pharmacist Saurabh Rawat, and Anil Kumar. In addition, 10 individuals received medicines during the camp, and an awareness session about eye donation and eye safety was held as part of Eye Donation Fortnight ending September 8. The next free cataract camp is planned for September 11 at Guptkashi. People are encouraged to contact their ASHA facilitators or ASHA workers for more information about the camps.
The operation plan and logistics for the Dehradun treatment were confirmed by the district medical officer and the organizing partners, who emphasized free services under the NHM umbrella.
