Residents of Ganeshpur in Uttarkashi’s Bhatwari block say a 33 KV high-voltage line passes dangerously close to their fields and homes. With paddy harvesting and threshing underway, villagers fear an accident and want the line shifted or additional safety measures installed. Officials of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam have been approached repeatedly, they say.

Garima Papnoi of Bonafide Public School, Chaukhutia, won Almora’s district science seminar, while Gitanjali Tiwari secured second place. Both students will represent the district at the state-level competition on the theme “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Possibilities and Challenges”, with the event focusing on energy, innovation and scientific thinking.

Potential candidates for treasurer and joint secretary positions climbed onto a campus building roof, demanding withdrawal of the rule before the election. Campus officials later assured them their concerns would be presented to the university.

A woman died and 4 members of a family were injured after their car, travelling from Munsiyari to Delhi, crashed near Betob by Farsali village in Kapkot. Police said the vehicle had developed a brake problem earlier, and an investigation is now underway into the accident and its circumstances.

A motorcycle belonging to Kanjabag Umarukhurd resident Abhinek Singh was reported missing after he visited the Haat Bazaar near Pahenia bypass on 12 September. Khatima police have registered a theft case against an unidentified person and are searching for the suspect and the stolen vehicle.

The meeting focused on election conduct, traffic discipline, campaign material and reporting suspicious activity, with warnings of strict action against violations inside the campus and on nearby roads.

Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport could see a runway expansion, additional domestic routes and improved passenger services after its annual Airport Advisory Committee meeting. Officials must examine speeding, traffic violations, black spots and other risks, while large warning signs and rumble-strip breakers have been ordered as immediate safety measures.

Tehri District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal reviewed more than 70 public complaints during a Janta Darbar at the collectorate. Officials were directed to resolve pending cases within one week and inform complainants about the outcome, while several matters were addressed during the hearing itself.
