Almora university students protest 50% women’s quota in union election s
Students at Sobhan Singh Jeena University’s Almora campus protested after new government directions reserved 50% of 6 student-union s for women. Potential candidates for treasurer and joint secretary positions climbed onto a campus building roof, demanding withdrawal of the rule before the election. Campus officials later assured them their concerns would be presented to the university.
