Nainital study finds more than 70% of hills shifting, with 24.9% in high-risk zone
A geological assessment using Sentinel-1A satellite observations from 2017 to 2024 has identified widespread ground movement around Nainital. The study places 17.08 square kilometres, or 24.9% of the assessed area, in the high-risk category and links the danger to unstable geology, heavy rainfall and uncontrolled construction.
