Pauri
The protest by families affected by the GVK Alaknanda hydropower project has escalated in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal. Police took women protesters from the project gate to the Kotwali, prompting a sit-in inside the police station. Daulat Kunwar and Saraswati Devi have begun an indefinite hunger strike over compensation and rehabilitation demands.
Kotdwar
The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Kotdwar has ordered an insurance company to pay ₹20.21 lakh to the family of Narendra Singh Rawat, who died after a dumper hit his scooter on the Dugadda–Nainidanda road. The amount must be deposited within one month and will carry 9 per cent annual interest.
Chamoli
Authorities in Jyotirmath, Chamoli, are preparing to demolish 21 government buildings declared unsafe after land subsidence and scientific assessments. The structures will be cleared after evacuation, while new government buildings may be constructed at safe locations. More than 55 unsafe private buildings have already been demolished, with compensation provided to affected people.
Haridwar
A fast-track special court in Haridwar has sentenced 5 men to life imprisonment in a case involving the sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl. The court also imposed a joint fine of 15 lakh 20 thousand rupees and ordered financial assistance for the child’s physical, mental and social harm.
Roorkee
Farmers’ union in Uttarakhand submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate, calling for a survey of crop damage and due compensation as continuous rains filled fields with water, affecting vegetables and other crops.

In Naal panchayat’s Sideli village, 2 women were attacked by a bear while gathering grass near a forest edge. one woman died at the scene and the other later succumbed at a hospital after being airlifted for treatment. Local authorities pledge support and increased patrols as villagers demand safety and compensation.
