Uttarakhand has been recognised as a “best-performing state” for achieving the highest grounding ratio under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. The ratio measures the share of approved homes for which construction has begun.
The award was presented to the state at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, by Tokhan Sahu, Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Vinod Goswami, Director and Additional Secretary in Uttarakhand’s Urban Development Department, and Rajiv Pandey, Assistant Director of the Urban Development Directorate, accepted it on behalf of the state government.
PMAY-Urban 2.0 progress
The scheme aims to provide permanent homes to eligible families without housing in urban areas. The Union government has approved 3,979 homes for Uttarakhand, of which construction has started on 1,867 homes.
The Centre approved 1,647 homes in August 2026 and released the funds to the state government in September 2026. After receiving the funds, the state will release money to urban local bodies and begin construction on the remaining approved homes.
Funds have currently been released for 2,332 homes. Construction has begun on 88 percent of these homes. The state government is coordinating with the concerned urban bodies and monitoring implementation continuously.
