Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the ‘Angan Milan’ programme at the Ghosikua Bhudai Anganwadi Centre in Khatima, where he reviewed welfare services and interacted with children, pregnant women, mothers, Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers.

Dhami spent time with the children, spoke with them and served them food himself. He also joined the godbharai ceremony and blessed pregnant women.

The chief minister distributed nutrition kits to 10 pregnant women and Mahalakshmi kits to 10 beneficiaries. He conducted the annaprashan ceremony for 05 young children and honoured 09 Anganwadi workers and 02 ASHA workers for their service.

Focus on maternal and child welfare

Dhami said ‘Angan Milan’ is intended to take service, care and dialogue to individuals and households. Similar programmes are being organised across Uttarakhand, he said.

He described Anganwadi centres as more than nutrition-service points, saying they support children’s healthy development, early education, values and overall growth. He added that the health and nutrition of mothers and children remain among the state government’s highest priorities.

The chief minister referred to support provided through the Mahalakshmi Kit Scheme, nutrition programmes and the Chief Minister Women’s Nutrition Scheme. He said birth waiting homes are being arranged for pregnant women in remote and difficult areas to help them access safe childbirth facilities.

He also referred to helicopter ambulance support when required, health services under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Programme, and financial assistance for pregnant and lactating women through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

Dhami said early childhood is a critical stage. Nutritious food, proper care, early education and good values during this period can help establish a strong foundation for a healthy and capable future.

He praised Anganwadi workers for taking government schemes to the ground and helping shape children’s futures. Dhami also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life as chief minister and prime minister, describing his work, dedication and service as an inspiration for citizens.

The chief minister said stronger cooperation among the government, society and families in caring for maternal and child health and nutrition would further strengthen the foundation of a healthy and capable Uttarakhand.
