Aryan Kumar and Jyoti won the men’s and women’s categories respectively at a cross-country race organised by the Physical Education Section of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar on Sunday.
Kumar, representing Tagore Bhavan, finished first in the men’s competition. Jyoti, from Mandakini Bhavan, secured the top position in the women’s category.
The race attracted 125 male participants and 186 female participants. Dean Student Welfare Dr Vipin Chandra Dhyani flagged off the event.

Gaurav Paladiya finished second in the men’s category, while Abhishek Yadav took third place. In the women’s category, Riddhi Nagarkoti was the runner-up and Lavanya Joshi finished third.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Shivendra Kumar Kashyap presented awards to the winners. The university also honoured the winners and runners-up of its open table tennis, tennis and squash championships.
Kashyap extended his wishes to the female students on International Day of the Girl Child and praised their participation in sports. University deans, directors and officials from the Physical Education Section attended the programme.
