A further ₹3 करोड़ has been approved for 3 non-elected bodies, while a road project in Pithoragarh has also received funding approval.

Traffic police in Pithoragarh took action against a Bullet motorcycle rider after finding a retro silencer fitted to the vehicle during a checking operation. The inspection was led by Traffic Inspector Mo. Yunus. Police said action was taken against the rider according to the applicable rules.

A 90-year-old man was injured when a 4-wheeler overturned into a field while reversing in Sya Khuri, Dharchula, on Sunday evening. Inder Singh, who had travelled to Dharchula for medicines related to his breathing problem, suffered injuries to his waist and right leg and is receiving treatment at the district hospital.

An 18-year-old man died and another rider was injured after their scooter was swept into a rain-swollen drain near Baradband on the Thal-Berinag road in Pithoragarh district. Rescue teams searched through the night before recovering the missing rider’s body from 150 feet below the road on Monday morning.

Residents of Gudauli village near Kanalichhina in Pithoragarh were confined to their homes on Sunday afternoon after a leopard moved repeatedly along a route linking the village with the forest. The animal left after villagers raised an alarm, while forest officials continue safety measures in nearby Bhandarigaon and surrounding areas.
