Nehru Colony police in Dehradun detained 20 people found drinking alcohol beside roads and in other public places on Sunday. The group was taken to the police station in a vehicle, where officers issued challans under Section 81 of the Police Act and warned that repeat violations would invite stricter action.
Nainital
Nainital Police detained 15 youths after a viral video showed people allegedly waving sticks from vehicles on the Haldwani-Kathgodam road during Janmashtami night. The group included 8 adults and 7 minors. Police seized 2 scooters, one motorcycle and one car, while adults and parents of the minors faced action.
Pauri
A landslide triggered by continuing rain has shut the link road between Patli and Kotli villages in Pauri Garhwal. Vehicle movement has stopped completely, leaving residents of around 7 nearby villages facing travel difficulties. Debris-clearance work is under way, while the area continues to face a risk of further landslides.
Chamoli
Intermittent rain has continued across Chamoli district for 6 days, triggering landslides and debris movement that have blocked 19 motor roads. Rural areas are facing disrupted connectivity with the district headquarters, while snowfall in high-altitude areas has brought colder conditions to Nandanager, Joshimath, Karnaprayag and Ghat.

The Mussoorie administration and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority demolished 4 shops near Rock Stone on Upper Mall Road on Monday. The action followed a demolition order issued after proceedings involving alleged unauthorised construction. Police, including women personnel, were deployed as officials carried out the operation with a JCB.

The National Highways Authority of India has begun land acquisition for a proposed 13-kilometre elevated highway between Ajabpur and Mianwala in Dehradun. The project, estimated to cost about ₹2,000 crore, is intended to divert traffic from the congested Respana-Jogiwala corridor and improve movement towards Saharanpur and Haridwar.

Rudrapur defeated Kulkha Stadium 36-26 in the final of the district-level junior girls’ kabaddi competition at Sakainiya Stadium in Gadarpur. 9 teams and around 100 players participated. Selected players will represent Udham Singh Nagar at the state-level kabaddi competition scheduled in Kaladhungi on 19 and 20 September.

2 teenagers died after their scooter collided head-on with a car on Kangdi Flyover in Haridwar’s Shyampur Kotwali area on Sunday. Police sent both bodies for -mortem after doctors at the district hospital declared them dead. The collision has renewed concern over safety and traffic management on the flyover.
Nainital
A total of 124 MBBS interns at Government Medical College Haldwani will stop routine internship duties from Monday, seeking an increase in their monthly stipend from 17 thousand to 30 thousand. The interns will protest at Dr. Sushila Tiwari Hospital from 10 am to 2 pm, while emergency services are expected to continue.

In response to rising swine flu cases, health authorities will extend treatment to community health centers (CHCs) and primary health centers (PHCs). The move includes provisioning of necessary drugs, masks, and sample collection facilities, with an isolation ward at the district hospital for severe cases.
