Bageshwar police have taken action against 39 drivers for traffic violations during Operation Prahar. A driver accused of driving after drinking was arrested by Jhirouli police, while his vehicle was seized. Police also issued 4 court challans, seized another vehicle and penalised 14 people for disturbing public peace.

Residents of Sher ka Danda in Nainital detained a young man on Friday evening while he was allegedly trying to remove oil from a vehicle. Locals handed him to police after assaulting him, while other suspected youths escaped. Police said he underwent a medical examination and was detained for questioning about the alleged thefts.

The Food Safety Department inspected 6 food establishments in Khatima on Friday as part of an effort to curb adulteration. Officials collected 5 samples, including paneer and dal, and served notices to 2 Charubeta establishments after finding dirt and other shortcomings during the inspection.

An 18-year-old from Tadiyal Bakhli was taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Chaukhutia after a pellet from a monkey-scaring gun became lodged in his hand. Doctors confirmed the pellet during examination and removed it through surgery. His condition improved after timely treatment, according to the medical team.

More than 50 lakh pilgrims have visited Uttarakhand’s Char Dham shrines by 10 September, putting the annual pilgron course for a possible new record. The second phase begins on 15 September, when officials expect visitor numbers to rise, while landslide-prone stretches could create traffic challenges on the mountain routes.
