Buses and heavy vehicles were seen using Almora’s Quarab bypass on Friday despite a district administration ban imposed until further orders. The restriction followed repeated landslides and safety concerns on the route. Light vehicles remain permitted, while larger vehicles have been directed to 2 alternative roads.

Water levels have risen again in the lake formed on the Shambhu river in Kuwari, Kapkot tehsil, submerging the local cremation ground. An administration and irrigation department inspection found that water is draining for now, but continuing landslides remain a threat and may require expert intervention for a lasting solution.

Rainwater has turned a road in Laxmanpur, within Vikasnagar municipality, into a difficult route for pedestrians and 2-wheeler users. Residents say poor drainage causes the same problem after every spell of rain and have sought immediate action. The municipal chairman said the sewer-line agency has been instructed to address the waterlogging.

Udham Singh Nagar Police said it arrested 02 people and recovered 03 2-wheelers linked to vehicle thefts in Rudrapur. Police said the vehicles had allegedly been taken from the area, stripped of their number plates and concealed in isolated locations or bushes before the recovery.

A Delhi-based company owner has accused 2 industrialists of taking control of his Pantnagar factory, machinery and goods after rent payments were disrupted during the Covid period. Following a court direction, Pantnagar police have registered a case and begun investigating the allegations, which include the alleged disappearance of machinery and raw and finished stock.

The Bharatiya Janata Party will organise 12 programmes during a month-long Seva Sankalp campaign from 17 September to 17 October. Police have arrested 3 men after 6 or 7 shots were allegedly fired at a tea stall near Haridwar railway station. The stall operator’s wife suffered pellet injuries to a toe on her right foot. A country-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from one accused, while 2 others remain under search.

Police in Haridwar’s Kankhal area have registered a case after Tarun alleged that he was assaulted near Hanuman Ghadi Puliya and threatened with death. He also accused Lalit Ved of pressuring him over property and caste-related issues. The complaint states that the assault caused serious injuries.
Pithoragarh
Anju Dhami, 26, was bitten by a snake while working near her home in the Vishad area of Pithoragarh on Friday evening. Her family took her to the district hospital, where an emergency medical team began treatment. Doctors said her condition is stable, and treatment remains underway.
