Sachin Kumar, a 20-year-old from Tatalgaon in Almora’s Chaukhutia block, died at the scene of a bike accident in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area. He had moved to the capital for work and was supporting his mother while hoping to help arrange marriages for his 4 sisters.

A pickup carrying 2 people fell into a gorge in Kamajula, within Champawat’s Barakot block, on Saturday evening. Police, revenue officials, fire personnel, 108 ambulance staff and health teams joined local residents in the rescue. The injured driver and passenger were taken to Lohaghat Sub-District Hospital for treatment.

Champawat police arrested 25-year-old Tarun Singh Gwal during checking by Chalthi police, according to Superintendent Rekha Yadav. The account says 10 grams of smack were recovered and a case was registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Champawat Kotwali. It also contains a conflicting reference to charas.

Electrical traders in Kashipur closed their establishments and protested at MP Chowk after a GST department action at shops and warehouses.
