Khatima
An Uttarakhand Excise Department team dismantled 3 country-liquor stills operating in the Kilpura forest near Aalawridhi village. Officials seized 120 litres of raw liquor and destroyed about 10,000 kilograms of fermentation material. 3 unidentified people were booked under the Excise Act after allegedly fleeing before the raid.

Kotdwar
Kotdwar police have arrested Sumit Bisht, alias Gaplu, after his uncle alleged that he was threatened with a country-made pistol. Police said they recovered the weapon and 2 live cartridges from the accused near Malan bridge on Friday night. He is being presented before the court for remand proceedings.
Pithoragarh
A 14-year-old student from Pithoragarh’s Madgaon village died after collapsing on his way home from a morning run, with doctors initially suspecting a heart attack. His 44-year-old mother later died after entering the Saryu River near Ghat, prompting a search by police and SDRF personnel.
Haridwar
Food safety officials in Haridwar district inspected hotels, restaurants, dairies, snack units and grocery shops on Saturday. They stopped the sale of meat products, Indian sweets and bakery items at one establishment after finding licensing gaps, missing documents and shared cooking vessels for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Officials also sent 13 samples for laboratory testing.
Haridwar
A young woman was injured during late-night firing in Haridwar’s Rajiv Nagar after a dispute between people in the area. Police said the shot was apparently aimed at another young man, but struck her instead. She was referred to a higher centre in Rishikesh and was later reported out of danger.
Roorkee
Employees at the Uttarakhand Roadways depot in Roorki staged a demonstration outside the assistant general manager’s office on Saturday. Workers said their salaries for July and August had not been released, creating financial difficulties, and warned that the protest would intensify if payment was delayed further.
Dehradun
A 16-tyre truck carrying cement overturned in Dehradun’s Mohabewala area, striking a motorcycle and leaving 2 people dead and 2 injured. Police reached the scene, arranged relief and rescue efforts, sent the injured for treatment and began examining the crash. Traffic on the route was also affected for some time.
Tehri
A 32-year-old supervisor working for a company handling BSNL cable work was found hanging in his hotel room in New Tehri. Police said no suicide note was recovered, leaving the cause of death unclear. The body has been sent for -mortem, while investigators have taken his mobile phone and informed his family.
Uttarkashi
A dog described as rabid bit 12 people in and around Mori market on Saturday, including schoolchildren. All those treated at the Community Health Centre in Mori received first aid and anti-rabies vaccines. Parents remain worried about children’s safety, while residents have urged officials to capture the animal and address stray dogs permanently.
