Uttarkashi
Rain is expected across 10 Uttarakhand districts, while the remaining areas may stay dry. Haldwani experienced sudden showers, strong winds and extensive waterlogging on Wednesday. From 25 September, several districts may face heavy rain, lightning and winds reaching 40-50 km/hour, with the risk of landslides and road disruption increasing in hill areas.
Rudraprayag
Rain is expected in 7 Uttarakhand districts on 22 September, while other areas may remain dry. Showers have already been reported in Rudrapur and Nainital. The Meteorological Department has forecast stronger rain in the hills from Friday and issued a yellow alert, with lightning possible in several districts on 25 September.
Rudraprayag
Several Uttarakhand districts may receive light to moderate rain, while higher areas could see thunderstorms, lightning and intense showers. Snowfall and hail have lowered temperatures in the hills, with Kedarnath recording -2°C. A landslide temporarily blocked the Haldwani-Nainital route, although traffic restoration work began soon after.
Dehradun
Heavy rain caused waterlogging in parts of Dehradun on Thursday morning, while falling rocks and debris disrupted routes in Pithoragarh. The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in Dehradun and hill districts, with a thunderstorm alert issued for 17 September and no warning from 18 September.
Dehradun
The Kedarnath pedestrian route remains shut near Chirbasa after repeated rockfall, leaving more than 500 people stranded. Security personnel have moved about 7,000 pilgrims towards Gaurikund, while the Public Works Department works on the damaged route. Rain, thunderstorms and intense showers remain possible across Uttarakhand, with conditions varying over the next 3 days.
Nainital
Nainital experienced light evening rain on Friday after a day of sunshine and cloud cover. The weather remained pleasant despite brief moderate showers. The yellow alert remains active, with light to moderate rain expected in the coming days, while one inch of water continues to be released from Naini Lake.
Dehradun
Uttarakhand is expected to see a stronger spell of rain from Friday, with a yellow alert for Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Thunderstorms and intense showers are possible across the state. The forecast comes after rain was recorded in several places, including Khatima and Pithoragarh.
Nainital
Nainital experienced about half an hour of intense rain on Thursday afternoon after a cloudy morning. The downpour slowed activity in the city and disrupted 2 state roads, one district road and 12 rural routes. Earthmoving machines were deployed to help reopen the affected roads, while temperatures remained between 19°C and 24°C.
Chamoli
Intermittent rain has continued across Chamoli district for 6 days, triggering landslides and debris movement that have blocked 19 motor roads. Rural areas are facing disrupted connectivity with the district headquarters, while snowfall in high-altitude areas has brought colder conditions to Nandanager, Joshimath, Karnaprayag and Ghat.
Dehradun
Heavy rainfall has damaged the Hemkund Sahib and Flower Valley trekking route near Pulna village, hindering pilgrim and tourist movement. In Dehradun and Haridwar, scattered rains caused waterlogging and traffic disruption. Officials say the route will be repaired, with local administration directing road agency to act.
