A 415-crore drainage plan has been approved for Haldwani to reduce monsoon waterlogging and risks from overflowing drains. The Irrigation Department has received an 8.5-crore first instalment, with work planned on 5 drains and 3 outfalls near Nainital Road to carry rainwater to the Gola River.
