The only lift at Rudrapur’s district hospital stopped working on Friday, forcing patients headed to the first floor to use the stairs. Elderly people, pregnant women and serious patients faced particular difficulty, while relatives carried some wheelchair and stretcher patients upstairs. The medical college principal said repairs were expected on Saturday.
