Srinagar GVK Alaknanda project protest intensifies over compensation as 2 begin hunger strike
The protest by families affected by the GVK Alaknanda hydropower project has escalated in Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal. Police took women protesters from the project gate to the Kotwali, prompting a sit-in inside the police station. Daulat Kunwar and Saraswati Devi have begun an indefinite hunger strike over compensation and rehabilitation demands.
