Haridwar official explains annual ‘Ganga Bandi’ maintenance and its impact on water and power supply
Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Vikas Tyagi said the annual ‘Ganga Bandi’ closure allows officials to inspect submerged or continuously used canal components, identify damage and complete repairs. The canal system supplies drinking water to Delhi-NCR and supports thermal and run-of-the-river hydroelectric power stations.
