India’s first indigenous GLOF warning system installed at Chamoli’s Vasundhara Tal
A CSIR-CBRI Roorkee team has installed India’s first indigenous glacial lake outburst flood warning system at Vasundhara Tal in Chamoli. Built for about Rs 61 lakh, the system monitors water levels, avalanches, landslides, weather and the lake’s natural dam before sending satellite data to support alerts downstream.
