Police in Kichha have detained a youth while investigating alleged death threats made against Congress leader Arun Kumar Shukla, popularly known as Kinnu Shukla. Shukla complained that he received threatening phone and video calls, during which obscene videos were allegedly shown. Investigators are questioning the youth and checking whether others were involved.

E-rickshaw driver Liyaqat Hussain died after a car collided with his vehicle in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar. The car reportedly left the scene before overturning in bushes 10 feet below the highway near Mahtosh Bhagda bridge. Police have taken custody of the damaged vehicle and are investigating the crash and the driver’s role.

The only lift at Rudrapur’s district hospital stopped working on Friday, forcing patients headed to the first floor to use the stairs. Elderly people, pregnant women and serious patients faced particular difficulty, while relatives carried some wheelchair and stretcher patients upstairs. The medical college principal said repairs were expected on Saturday.

He said the incident occurred after his vehicle lost balance near a pothole before Kanakpur. The station officer said a dispute began after 2 motorcycles collided, while the investigation continues.

Doraha police reached the site, arranged hospital transport for the injured and began investigating after the loader driver allegedly left the vehicle and fled.
