They raised slogans over alleged vote theft, corruption and inflation, while also questioning Gautam’s appointment in connection with the Ankita murder case.

The Food Safety and Drug Administration inspected 145 food items in Kotdwar on 12 and 13 October through its Food Safety on Wheels service. Anil Kumar, a 45-year-old junior engineer ed at the Ramganga Dam Project, was found dead in the bathroom of his government residence in Kalagarh’s New Colony on Sunday. Police suspect electrocution, after a burn injury was found on a finger of his right hand. His body has been taken to Kotdwar for mortem.

The Uttarakhand Secondary Teachers Association has opposed a government order limiting tablet funding to Classes 10–12 students in state-run schools. The association wants the Knowledge Bank scheme expanded to aided schools, saying many students from poor and middle-class families could otherwise miss the benefit.

Manju Devi, 51, died in Ramnagar after suffering serious injuries in a bear attack at Dhangalgaon in Nainidanda block. She had been grazing goats when the animal attacked from bushes. Residents have announced a protest at Khaliyudanda market as preparations continue to bring her body to the village after mortem.
