Intermittent rain that began on Saturday continued through Sunday, leaving several parts of Khatima waterlogged. The worst conditions were reported along Sitarganj Road between the Kotwali and Kanjabag crossing, where submerged footpaths, overflowing drains and dirty water disrupted access for shopkeepers, customers and nearby residents.

A youth from Rudrapur’s Bhadaipura Ward 14 was allegedly attacked with a sword at Gandhi Park on 6 September 2026. Police have registered an FIR against 4 named suspects and some unidentified people, while investigating the alleged assault, threats, vehicles and weapons linked to the incident.

Aniket died after the scooter he was riding with his mother lost balance near Chhiddarwala on the Dehradun–Haridwar highway. The crash has renewed concerns over hundreds of potholes between Motichur and Laltappar, while police have registered a case against the dumper driver and begun efforts to locate him.

Police are collecting information after a video showing a young man being beaten with a stick near the IG office in Nainital’s Mallital area circulated widely online. The reported confrontation followed a dispute involving the youth and a vehicle driver late on Sunday night, but officials have not yet established the full sequence of events.

Khatima resident Dr Naveen Bhatt has received the Yog Ratna Award for his contribution to yoga and yoga education. Ram Singh Dhami, a 47-year-old hotel worker living in Tigri, died while receiving treatment after an e-rickshaw driver brought him to a sub-civil hospital in Khatima. Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the driver and establish how Dhami suffered the serious head injury on Friday night.

Police in Khatima arrested a 24-year-old man during checking on the Jasari-Patpura road, officials said. The search allegedly recovered 4.45 grams of smack from a transparent polythene packet. A case has been registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and legal proceedings are underway as he is produced in court.

Police in Khatima have arrested Satwinder Singh alias Sonu Kaneti in connection with a firing and death-threat complaint filed by a resident of Bari Anjania. Investigators said CCTV footage and informers helped trace him, while 4 other accused had already been arrested in the case.

Residents of Uttarauda Ghurdौda in Someshwar’s Lod Valley staged a protest after reportedly going without ration for 3 months. They said the government fair-price shop dealer had gone abroad without arranging an alternative. Following pressure from residents and Congress leaders, the department sent 2 months of ration and assured them of further action.
Haldwani
As many as 134 MBBS interns at Government Medical College, Haldwani, have decided to strike from Monday over their demand for a higher stipend. They are seeking an increase from the current ₹17,000 to ₹30,000, while the college principal has warned that absence during internship will be recorded and action may follow under applicable rules.
